Letterpress is slow graphic design using wood and metal type which is hand-set and printed using the antique presses in my studio.
Anything you would like to say in type, letterpress does this with a personality and soul that digital printing cannot match.
BESPOKE LETTERPRESS ARTWORK
The star of the show is the Vandercook cylinder proofing-press. ‘Vandy’ has seen many decades of action and stories as a proofing press for compositors in Fleet Street. A proofing press allowed the compositors (men who set the articles in pieces of lead and wooden type) to check their work for typos, spacing and general legibility.
Vandy is a press, it might be tactful to say, in her mature years. However she has been fully refurbished back to her glory days. I am so glad to have found and rescued her from the scrap heap.
A name, house, special location, quote from your favourite book or song, proverb, grid reference, date…say it with letterpress!
My name is emma
I have a passion for letterpress printing and graphic design. After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, with a specialisation in Typography, in 2002, I ventured into teaching.
I have a dedicated garden studio at my home, where I craft bespoke letterpress pieces, using my restored Vandercook cylinder proofing-press, ‘Vandy’.
LETTERPRESS NOTEBOOKS
Personalised notebooks with personality printed on Seawhite recycled card eco notebooks, these plain pages notebooks can be either A5 or A4 size and are printed using the vintage book press. Other relief printed artwork can also be created or ask about the ever expanding collection of vintage advertising printing blocks to accompany the text.
